anqi bistro - costa mesa

Couple of months back, I had a chance to catch up with a special friend, and him being the gentleman that he always is, took me out for a nice dinner at anqi bistro in costa mesa. located at one of the ends of south coast plaza, anqi is the result of an asian and american twist. The restaurant is a bit intimidating in the beginning because of the dark lighting, but many candles are lit to soften the gloom and pebbles align the sides of the floor along with bamboo decorations and lots of pretty murals on the walls.

Anqi is known for their garlic noodles, and so we decided to order that and a couple more things on the menu.

-garlic noodles (one of their known dishes. interesting in flavor)

-chorizo corn dogs

-filet mignon summer rolls ( my favorite. they melt in your mouth)

-shaken beef

The portions were a bit tiny in my opinion but it gave us a chance to sample different variety of foods and in the end we were very satisfied. The atmosphere was so pleasant and sophisticated.. I felt a bit under dressed because I did not know where we were going, but nonetheless, it was a great dinner. A bit on the expensive side, but if you like going to restaurants for atmosphere, this place is definitely a go.
